Wykeham Arms

853834) The Wykeham Arms is a real foodie’s pub.
In fact the Wykeham Arms has won many awards, not only for
its food but for its general atmosphere and charm too. The
pub has several different rooms giving it a cosy feel,
especially during the winter months when there’s a roaring
fire too. Food includes dishes such as sea bream with chilli,
sun-dried tomato and coriander oil, to plain and simple
cottage pie.
The Eclipse Inn
25 The Square (01962 865676) The Eclipse Inn is housed in what was
formerly the rectory for St Lawrence’s church. The
building dates back to the 16th century and so
has bags or character and charm. Traditional home-cooked
lunches and a great range of beers and wines add to the
appeal, as does the warm welcome.
Willow Tree
14 Durngate Terrace, (01962 877255) The Willow Tree is set in the unusual
location between various streams of the Itchen. The garden
here is particularly pleasant as it is surrounded by water
on both sides. Inside you’ll find a smartly decorated
interior and a hearty menu that changes regularly. Food
portions are very generous with both unusual and traditional
choices on offer.
Hyde Tavern
57 Hyde Street, Hyde (01962 862592) As a 15th century pub the Hyde
Tavern is the oldest pub in the area. Its age is clearly
visible from the low ceilings and wooden beams still
evident. The pub is split into two distinctive bar areas.
There’s no food served here but there is a great selection
of ales such as Greene King IPA and Abbot to curb your
appetite.
